RESONA: Jurnal Ilmiah Pengabdian Masyarakat

Publisher: Lembaga Penerbitan dan Publikasi Ilmiah (LPPI), Universitas Muhammadiyah Palopo, Indonesia.

1. General Information

RESONA: Jurnal Ilmiah Pengabdian Masyarakat is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal that publishes scholarly articles reporting the implementation, evaluation, and outcomes of community service and community engagement activities.

The journal aims to disseminate knowledge, practical experiences, and evidence-based innovations that contribute to community empowerment, capacity building, knowledge and technology transfer, and sustainable community development.

RESONA welcomes contributions from academics, researchers, practitioners, and community service professionals across relevant disciplines, provided that the manuscripts demonstrate meaningful community engagement and documented outcomes.

Authors are required to prepare manuscripts in accordance with the journal's Focus and Scope, Publication Ethics, Peer Review Process, manuscript template, and submission requirements.

2. General Submission Requirements

Manuscripts submitted to RESONA must meet the following requirements:

  1. The manuscript must be original, academically sound, and relevant to community service or community engagement.
  2. The manuscript must not have been previously published or be under consideration by another journal.
  3. The manuscript must report community service activities that have been implemented and provide appropriate evidence of their results.
  4. The manuscript must comply with the journal's Publication Ethics and applicable ethical requirements.
  5. All listed authors must have contributed appropriately to the manuscript and approved its submission.
  6. The manuscript must be prepared using the journal's prescribed manuscript template.
  7. All citations, references, tables, figures, and supporting information must be accurate and appropriately acknowledged.

  10. Authors must submit the manuscript through the journal's Online Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

3. Types of Manuscripts

RESONA primarily accepts original scholarly articles reporting completed community service and community engagement activities.

Eligible manuscripts may address community empowerment, education and training, mentoring, participatory assistance, application of appropriate technologies, entrepreneurship development, social innovation, literacy development, environmental initiatives, and other activities consistent with the journal's Focus and Scope.

Articles describing the application of research findings or technological innovations are welcome when they include an identifiable community partner, documented implementation, and evaluation of outcomes.

Purely theoretical manuscripts, stand-alone literature reviews, conventional research articles without a community service component, and proposed activities without documented implementation results are generally outside the primary scope of RESONA.

4. Manuscript Preparation and Formatting

Authors must prepare their manuscripts using Microsoft Word or compatible word-processing software and follow the official manuscript template provided by RESONA.

The following general formatting requirements are based on the journal's existing manuscript preparation guidelines:

Authors should establish a clear connection between the identified community needs and the planned intervention. The Introduction should not consist solely of broad theoretical discussions without a specific community context.

The Methods section must describe the community service implementation process clearly and systematically so that readers can understand and, where appropriate, adapt the approach in similar community settings.

The Methods section should include:

  8. Sustainability: Opportunities for continued implementation, community ownership, or further development of the activities.

Authors are strongly encouraged to provide appropriate quantitative or qualitative evidence supporting their claims. Depending on the nature of the activity, such evidence may include pre- and post-activity assessments, performance indicators, participant feedback, documented improvements, or systematic observations.

Photographs and activity documentation may be used as supporting evidence but should not replace substantive evaluation of community service outcomes.

Claims regarding long-term community impact must not be made solely on the basis of attendance, activity completion, or short-term satisfaction data.

13. Tables, Figures, and Documentation

Tables and figures should be used when they improve the clarity and interpretation of the reported community service activities and results.

All tables and figures must be numbered consecutively according to their appearance in the manuscript and must be cited in the main text.

Photographs showing identifiable community participants must comply with applicable privacy, permission, and informed consent requirements.

14. Conclusion

The Conclusion must summarize the principal achievements and practical contributions of the community service activity in relation to its stated objectives.

It should explain the most important outcomes, implications for community partners, and lessons learned from implementation.

Where appropriate, authors may identify recommendations for program sustainability, further community engagement, or future improvements.

The Conclusion must be supported by the results presented in the manuscript and should not introduce unsupported claims or entirely new information.

15. Acknowledgments

Authors may acknowledge individuals, community organizations, institutions, funding agencies, local authorities, or other stakeholders who provided meaningful support for the reported activities.

Acknowledgments should identify the relevant contributions without assigning authorship to individuals who do not satisfy the journal's authorship requirements.

Funding support, including institutional grants or program sponsorships, should be identified where applicable.

16. References and Citations

The reference list must contain all sources cited in the manuscript, and every reference listed must correspond to an in-text citation.

Authors must prioritize relevant, credible, and scholarly references that support the community problems, implementation approaches, evaluation methods, discussion, and conclusions.

References must follow the citation and bibliographic style specified in the current official RESONA manuscript template. Authors should apply the same style consistently throughout the manuscript.

The journal encourages the use of reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to improve citation accuracy and bibliographic consistency.

Authors must avoid excessive self-citation, inappropriate citation practices, unverifiable sources, and references that do not directly support the scholarly content.

Where available, Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) should be included in the references according to the prescribed bibliographic style.

17. Publication Ethics and Research Integrity

All authors must comply with the journal's Publication Ethics policy. Plagiarism, fabricated or falsified information, duplicate publication, manipulated authorship, misleading reporting, and other forms of scholarly misconduct are prohibited.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their submissions.

Submitted manuscripts may undergo originality screening as part of the editorial evaluation process. Similarity reports are interpreted contextually and do not independently establish plagiarism.

Authors must disclose relevant conflicts of interest and funding sources and must cooperate with the editorial team when clarification or supporting evidence is requested.

18. Ethical Considerations for Community Engagement

Community service activities must respect the dignity, rights, autonomy, privacy, cultural values, and well-being of community participants and partner institutions.

Authors must obtain appropriate permissions or informed consent when required and provide additional safeguards for activities involving vulnerable groups.

Identifiable photographs, interviews, personal data, and other sensitive documentation must not be published without an appropriate legal and ethical basis.

Ethical approval or institutional authorization must be obtained where applicable. Authors should provide relevant information concerning such approval when necessary to establish the ethical integrity of the reported activities.

19. Use of Artificial Intelligence

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of manuscripts prepared with the assistance of artificial intelligence tools.

Artificial intelligence systems must not be listed as authors because they cannot fulfill authorship responsibilities or assume accountability for scholarly publications.

Substantive use of generative AI in manuscript preparation, analysis, image creation, or other scholarly processes must be disclosed transparently, including the tools used and their purposes where applicable.

Authors must independently verify all AI-assisted information, references, results, and visual materials. AI-generated content containing fabricated references, misleading statements, or unauthorized personal information is unacceptable.

20. Peer Review and Editorial Decisions

All submitted manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening to assess their relevance, completeness, originality, ethical compliance, and consistency with the journal's submission requirements.

Manuscripts that meet the initial requirements proceed to independent peer review in accordance with the journal's published Peer Review Process policy.

Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts in response to editorial and reviewer recommendations.

Revised manuscripts should be accompanied by clear explanations of how the comments and recommendations have been addressed.

Final publication decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief or an authorized editor based on manuscript quality, relevance, ethical compliance, review recommendations, and the adequacy of revisions.
