  2. Manuscripts must be relevant to the focus and scope of Jurnal Manajemen STIE Muhammadiyah Palopo.
  3. Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English. The abstract must be provided in both Indonesian and English.
  4. Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal's Online Journal System (OJS). Authors are required to register and log in before submitting a manuscript.
  5. Manuscripts must be prepared using the latest official template of Jurnal Manajemen STIE Muhammadiyah Palopo.

  7. Authors should not modify the journal's standard layout, header, footer, page format, or other predetermined template elements unless instructed by the Editorial Team.

2. Manuscript Formatting

The manuscript must follow the formatting provided in the official journal template.

The general formatting requirements are as follows:

  • Paper size: A4;
  • Font: Garamond;
  • Main text font size: 12 pt;
  • Line spacing: 1.15;
  • Text alignment: justified;
  • Paragraphs should use the indentation provided in the journal template; and
  • The manuscript should use a single-column layout, following the latest journal template.

Authors should use the provided template directly rather than recreating the manuscript layout manually.

3. Title, Authors, and Affiliations

Article Title

The article title should:

  • clearly represent the content of the manuscript;
  • be concise and informative;
  • use Garamond, 16 pt, bold; and
  • follow the formatting provided in the journal template.

Author Names

The names of all authors should be written below the article title using the format provided in the template.

Author names should be written in Garamond, 12 pt, bold.

The corresponding author must be clearly identified using an asterisk (*).

Author Affiliations

Each author's affiliation should include:

  • Department/Study Program;
  • Institution/University;
  • City; and
  • Country.

The corresponding author's valid e-mail address must also be provided.

The updated template provides separate spaces for the article title, author names, institutional affiliations, and corresponding-author details.

4. Abstract

Every manuscript must contain an abstract in Indonesian and English.

The abstract must:

  • contain 100–200 words;
  • be written using Garamond, 10 pt;
  • stand independently and provide a concise overview of the research;
  • contain no citations;
  • contain no tables or figures;
  • avoid unnecessary abbreviations or uncommon terminology; and
  • avoid detailed statistical figures.

The abstract should contain four essential components in sequence:

  1. Research objective and/or research problem;
  2. Research method;
  3. Main findings or results; and
  4. Interpretation and conclusion of the study.

The abstract should not contain an extensive explanation of the research background.

These requirements follow the new template, which explicitly specifies a 100–200-word bilingual abstract and its four main components.

5. Keywords

Authors must provide 3–5 keywords representing the main concepts of the manuscript.

Keywords must:

  • be provided for both the Indonesian and English abstracts;
  • consist of 3–5 words or phrases; and
  • be separated by commas.

The keywords should accurately reflect the subject matter of the research and facilitate article indexing and discovery.

6. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Manajemen STIE Muhammadiyah Palopo should be organized according to the following structure:

1. INTRODUCTION

The Introduction should clearly explain:

  • the background and context of the research;
  • the research phenomenon or problem;
  • the rationale for conducting the research;
  • relevant previous studies;
  • the research gap;
  • the novelty and contribution of the study;
  • the research objective and/or research question.

Authors should clearly explain how the research contributes to the development of knowledge.

The contribution may be demonstrated through, for example:

  • a unique research context or sample;
  • theoretical development;
  • methodological contribution;
  • new empirical findings; or
  • other relevant contributions to the field of management.

The research objective or research question should be presented at the end of the Introduction in narrative form rather than as a separately numbered list.

The Introduction must begin on a new page, separate from the manuscript's title and abstract page, as indicated in the current template.

2. THEORETICAL REVIEW

The Theoretical Review should present theories, concepts, and previous empirical studies relevant to the research.

The discussion should not merely list previous studies but should establish the theoretical foundation necessary to explain the research problem and variables.

Subsections may be used as necessary, for example:

2.1 Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA)
2.2 Marketing Performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)
2.3 Hypothesis Development

For quantitative research involving hypotheses, authors should provide appropriate theoretical and empirical arguments supporting each proposed hypothesis.

Each hypothesis should be clearly stated, for example:

H1: First hypothesis statement.

Where applicable, the theoretical review may include a conceptual or research framework illustrating the relationships among the variables.

The new template specifically provides subsections for theoretical discussion, hypothesis development, and a conceptual research framework.

3. METHOD

The Method section should provide a clear and concise explanation of how the research was conducted.

Where applicable, this section should describe:

  • research design;
  • research approach;
  • research setting or object;
  • population;
  • sample and sampling technique;
  • data sources;
  • data collection techniques;
  • operational definitions or measurement of variables;
  • research instruments; and
  • data analysis techniques.

The information provided should be sufficiently clear to allow readers to understand how the research was conducted.

The current template specifically requires a clear explanation of the methods used, population and sample, and data analysis procedures.

4. RESULTS

The Results section should present the main findings of the research clearly and systematically.

Authors should:

  • report findings relevant to the research objectives;
  • summarize statistical results where appropriate;
  • use tables or figures to present complex results more clearly;
  • sequentially number all tables and figures; and
  • avoid inserting raw screenshots or direct outputs from statistical software.

Statistical analyses used in the research should be adequately explained.

Important statistical findings should preferably be summarized in properly formatted tables or figures rather than copied directly from statistical software output.

5. DISCUSSION

The Discussion should provide an academic interpretation of the research findings.

Authors should:

  • explain the meaning of the findings;
  • relate the findings to the research objectives;
  • compare the findings with previous research;
  • explain whether the results support or differ from previous studies;
  • provide theoretical explanations;
  • discuss relevant managerial or practical implications; and
  • emphasize the contribution of the findings.

The Discussion should focus on interpreting the results rather than merely repeating statistical values already presented in the Results section.

The arguments presented must be supported by relevant scholarly literature.

6. CONCLUSION

The Conclusion should provide a concise synthesis of the main findings in relation to the research objectives.

The Conclusion may also include:

  • theoretical implications;
  • practical or managerial implications;
  • research limitations; and
  • recommendations for future research.

Authors should avoid simply repeating the Results and Discussion sections.

The current template explicitly allows authors to describe research limitations and provide brief recommendations for future studies.

7. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The Acknowledgement section is optional.

Where applicable, authors may acknowledge:

  • institutions providing research funding;
  • research grant providers;
  • institutions or individuals who substantially assisted the research but do not qualify for authorship; or
  • other forms of legitimate research support.

Where the research was funded through a formal research grant or contract, the relevant contract or grant number should be stated when available.

8. REFERENCES

All references cited in the manuscript must be included in the reference list, and all sources included in the reference list must be cited in the text.

References must follow the APA Style, 7th Edition.

Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as:

  • Mendeley; or
  • Zotero.

The template explicitly recommends both reference-management tools and requires APA 7th Edition.

7. In-Text Citations

In-text citations must follow APA Style, 7th Edition.

Examples:

One author:

(Diener, 2000)

Two authors:

(Sabri & MacDonald, 2010)

For narrative citations:

Sabri and MacDonald (2010)

Three or more authors:

(Haerani et al., 2019)

For narrative citations:

Haerani et al. (2019)

When citing several sources within the same parentheses, references should be arranged alphabetically, for example:

(Caprara & Zimbardo, 2004; Lusardi et al., 2010; Sabri & MacDonald, 2010)

These citation patterns correspond to the examples provided in the updated journal template.

8. Tables

Tables must be numbered consecutively according to their appearance in the manuscript:

Table 1. Title of the Table
Table 2. Title of the Table

Table titles should use Garamond, 11 pt and be clear and concise.

If a table uses or adapts information from another source, the source must be provided below the table.

Tables should:

  • be editable;
  • be clearly readable;
  • be referred to in the main text;
  • contain only information relevant to the manuscript; and
  • not duplicate information that has already been fully described in the text.

The new template demonstrates an 11 pt table title and source information below the table.

9. Figures

All figures, graphs, diagrams, and conceptual frameworks must be clearly readable and numbered sequentially according to their appearance in the manuscript.

Example:

Figure 1. Research Conceptual Framework

Figure captions should use Garamond, 11 pt and must clearly describe the figure.

Authors must ensure that figures:

  • have sufficient resolution;
  • remain legible when displayed in the journal;
  • are referred to in the manuscript;
  • accurately represent the research data or concepts; and
  • do not contain unnecessary decorative elements.

The template uses the format “Figure 1. Research Conceptual Framework” with an 11 pt caption.

10. Headings and Subheadings

Headings must follow the numbering system used in the latest journal template.

Main sections use Arabic numerals:

1. INTRODUCTION
2. THEORETICAL REVIEW
3. METHOD
4. RESULTS
5. DISCUSSION
6. CONCLUSION
7. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
8. REFERENCES

Subsections use decimal numbering, for example:

2.1 Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA)
2.2 Marketing Performance
2.3 Hypothesis Development

Authors should avoid excessive subdivision of sections and maintain consistent heading formatting throughout the manuscript.

11. Reference Style

References must follow APA Style, 7th Edition.

The updated template provides reference examples for books, journal articles, edited books, websites, social media, and conference proceedings.

12. Reference Quality

Authors should prioritize credible, relevant, and scholarly references, particularly peer-reviewed journal articles related to the research topic.

References must:

  • be directly relevant to the manuscript;
  • be traceable and verifiable;
  • accurately support the statements for which they are cited; and
  • be presented consistently according to APA 7th Edition.

Unreliable or non-scholarly sources should not be used as the primary basis for scientific arguments.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all references, including author names, publication years, titles, journal names, volume and issue numbers, page numbers, DOIs, and URLs.

13. Mathematical Equations

Mathematical equations must be clearly presented and, when necessary, numbered consecutively.

Symbols and variables used in equations must be adequately explained when first introduced.
