Abstract

ABSTRACT

The increase in divorce rates in Indonesia in recent years indicates that family resilience is facing increasingly complex pressures due to economic, demographic, and social changes in society. This study aims to analyze the determinants of divorce in Indonesia using a logistic regression approach with data from the 2023 National Socioeconomic Survey (SUSENAS). The independent variables analyzed include unemployment, area of residence, gender, age, education level, and the health condition of the head of the household. The study sample included 261,830 ever-married individuals aged 15 years and above with complete data on all study variables. The analysis results show that all variables significantly influence the likelihood of divorce. Unemployment is the most dominant factor increasing the risk of divorce, followed by urban area and health problems of the head of the household. Conversely, age, higher education, and male gender act as protective factors against divorce. These findings confirm that divorce is a multidimensional phenomenon influenced by the interaction of economic, demographic, and social factors. This study provides an empirical contribution by using an integrated approach to representative national data to explain the determinants of divorce in Indonesia. Therefore, policies are needed that focus on expanding employment opportunities, strengthening family economic resilience, and improving marriage readiness education to reduce divorce rates.
